Innu Inuit Redpath Limited Partnership (IIR) will be the primary contractor on an underground mine project located on the east coast of Labrador, approximately 350 km north of Goose Bay. Future mining from the two separate underground deposits will extend the life of this operation for at least another decade. Both deposits contain Nickel and Copper and at peak production, 2.54 million tons will be mined annually.
The scope of work includes installations of UG Wash Bay, Fuel/Lube Bay, Maintenance Bays, Doors/Bulkheads, Sumps, Pump Stations, Refuge Stations, Paste/Backfill piping installations. Also an Ore Handling System including a Rock Breaker, Grizzly, Bin Discharge and Conveyor System.
- Inspect existing underground headings to ensure the workplace is safe and assigned construction tasks can be executed safely and to design specifications.
- Use of scaling bars, pneumatic hand-held drills, cutting and welding equipment, rubber-tired underground mobile equipment such as scissor trucks, boom truck, shotcrete sprayers and other support vehicles in a confined environment
- The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Basic literacy (read, write, basic math and read blue prints) is required
- 2 years’ experience in a related construction role in underground mining environment (Required)
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) Specialty Modules: U0085a, U0085b, U0085c & U0086 (or other provincial equivalent) (preferred)
- Ability to read civil print
- Ability to multi task and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to make decisions quickly
- Knowledge of mining industry
- Ability to read, review and understand Standard Work Procedures, safety programs and applicable mine regulations
- Must have the ability to adapt to change

- Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
