• Review drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate and preparation of General Conditions for a complete estimate.
• Participate in Client meetings to determine Owner requirements.
• Participate in consultant meetings to ensure Owner requirements are included in the design and meet the budget parameters.
• Prepare list of trades to send tender request to for new projects.
• Preparation of estimates and proposals in support of and in conjunction with the Sales Department.
• Work with estimating software to complete material and quantity takeoffs.
• Turn over of a complete and detailed estimate complete with subcontractor quotes to the project manager.
• Prepare a complete budget based on conceptual or minimal drawings.
• Prepare preliminary schedules to assess the timelines needed.
• Knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems would be an asset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience preferably within residential construction.
• General Contractor experience is a must.
• Completion of post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering or related education.
• Understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess the level of completeness.
• Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop a project schedule.
• Have above average computer skills with the ability to develop a database.
• Must be innovative, detail oriented, well organized, self-motivated, able to multitask, work well with tight deadlines and within a team environment.
• Strong computer background including experience with MS Office and related estimating software.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership ability along with strong team orientation and problem-solving skills.
