ZAS Toronto Office is looking for an Intermediate Interior Designer to join our team who will contribute their skills to the planning, design, and implementation of a diverse range of projects, both in scale and value. We are looking for a talented and well-rounded individual who enjoys both the design and technical sides of Interior Design and Architecture. Time management and the ability to contribute to meeting deadlines are the attributes we expect from all of our employees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an architectural office environment.
- Strong design, graphic and presentation skills, including the ability to translate ideas from concept to detailed drawings.
- Experience in significant project phases from concept through completion.
- Experience using AutoCAD 2018 (or above) and Revit software.
- Good working knowledge of Ontario Building Code.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and to incorporate direction well.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
- A desire to gain real-world skills that will aid you throughout your career.
- Passionate about design self-motivated, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.
- Self-motivated individual capable of assuming increasing responsibility for both current and future projects and who is interested in growing with the firm.
OVERALL RESPONSIBLITY:
- Perform interior design assignments that include programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, construction documentation and contract administration
- Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting
- Generate finish plans, specifications, and material selections needed for construction
- Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
- Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
- Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, color selections, and specifications
- Graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas
- Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, concept design schematics and material/furniture systems research to ensure a satisfactory solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines and budgetary requirements
- Prepare presentation boards and other presentation materials
- Prepare drawings, models and renderings, following office standards
- Attend meetings to coordinate drawings and resources, determine project criteria and provide information
- Assist in the administration relating to the procurement and delivery of furniture, fixtures and equipment
- Support other team members as required
- Gain familiarity with current design trends, FFE distributors and presentation techniques to improve skills and implements them on project work
- Represent organization and interact in a professional manner with client, sub-consultant and contractor representatives
Job Type: Full-time, (3 months probation period)
