You may wear many hats as a Geotechnical Engineer with the Ministry - some days you'll be providing advice or doing design work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that is building a new road or bridge. Other days you may be assessing a recent landslide to determine if the road is safe to re-open, or providing advice on whether a future housing development should be built in a certain area.
One thing you definitely will do is be able to point at a specific road or bridge when you're driving around the province, and know that you played a key part in getting it built.

Job Requirements:
- Degree in Geological, Geotechnical or Civil (specialized in Geotechnical Engineering) Engineering or equivalent as recognized by Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration as Professional Engineer with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as currently registered as a Professional Engineer in another Canadian jurisdiction, and/or able to obtain registration in BC within 6 months of employment.
- Minimum 5 years Licensed Professional experience (not including Engineer-in-Training status years) in one or more of the following: pavement design, foundation design, geotechnical assessments, materials engineering, geohazard assessment, or field assessments.
- Experience procuring and managing contracts may be preferred.
- Candidates with leadership experience in infrastructure planning, field investigation, design and/or construction for geotechnical projects may be preferred.
- Preference may be given to applicants with geotechnical engineering experience in highway infrastructure
