We are looking for auxiliary Parks Janitors for the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts buildings and premises, with our goal in finding efficient and conscientious people who take pride in a job well done. The Parks Janitor is involved in manual repetitive work in cleaning and caring of various Shadbolt Centre buildings, including heritage buildings. You will provide assistance and services to patrons during scheduled events at the Centre, its associated buildings and Deer Lake Park, and perform a variety of cleaning, minor maintenance and/or building services tasks including complete room set-ups and change-overs including interpreting floor plans and plugging in microphones. You may also be required to perform patrolling related duties for Deer Lake Park and Cultural Services and may also pick up and deliver various items such as tables, chairs and janitorial equipment and supplies. This position may also be required to perform related duties for Deer Lake Park and Cultural Services buildings including checking and resetting fire and intrusion alarms to secure premises, and communicating with Security and Emergency Services. You will prepare and maintain related records and perform other related work as required.

You must have facility-related work experience in a janitorial or custodial role; and possess related work experience with the methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial care and maintenance of buildings; have the ability to work independently, and be able to perform heavy manual work as well as deal courteously with the public. Sound customer service skills are a requirement. You are able to work day, afternoon, and evening shifts including weekends as required. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia, Class 5, is required
