This is a permanent part time position. It is up to 24 hours per week – Day shifts (8:30am-4:30pm) Evening Shifts (4:30pm-12:30am) and Weekends. There may be opportunity for some additional hours as needed.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Position Purpose summary:
To demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills and can communicate with internal and external contacts. Ability to work well as a team member and engage with clients in their everyday needs through conversation, check ins, planning, goals setting and timelines. To exercise considerable initiative with minimal direction.
- Accountability #1
- To support and engage with client activities and workshops.
- Records intake processes and decisions making applicable case notes and observations. Contribution to case histories for all incoming clients/residents. Discharges clients, room checks and dinner preparation.
- Help clients apply for subsidized housing and find market rent units.
- Accountability #2
- Demonstrate empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care and support for client following the facility Mission statement of offering new hope and real help to those who need it most.

- Engagement with client through meaningful conversation to assist and refer appropriately to our community partners through best practices, the client well-being, set achievable goals with timelines, allowing self-determination and independence.
- Perform other position related duties as required.
MANAGERIAL/TACHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Internal:
- Represents the Salvation Army in a professional, courteous manner, congruent with the organization’s values and principles.
External:
- Liaises with referral sources and other external stakeholders and agencies as required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Congregate and community living
- Some meal preparation and light housekeeping as required
The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Degree in a social work field or equivalent field
- Computer literate, demonstrating experience with Microsoft office, internet, keyboard, case noting
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR/NVCI
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- 1 – 3 years work experience in a related field, preferably in a residential or congregate setting
- Experience with HIFIS and Co-Ordinated Access considered an asset
- Class G Driver’s License
- Capable of adhering to department boundaries and follow direction of supervisor
- Understanding of cultural differences
- Commitment to teamwork.
SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:
- Recognizable skill in effective time management and organization
- Knowledge of Community Services and Agencies considered an Asset
- Skills in understanding the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis situations
- Bilingualism considered an asset
Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Screening.
