Responsibilities:

  • Creates SolidWorks assemblies, drawings, laser machine files, and Bill of Materials.
  • Work with fabricate team to improve existing products and processes.
  • Follow document control rules to maintain a large database of drawings and part numbers.
  • Process ECOs (engineering change orders) and update the shop personnel with the design changes.
  • Support Engineering team in design, trouble shooting, and various projects.
  • Update product manuals and maintain key documents pertaining to product prices.
  • Provide sales and maintenance support by providing necessary information and part replacement guidance.
  • Learn constantly on the job about products and remember even minor details about these products to be a successful designer in this role. This is a on-going learning role where much independent learning is required. Candidate must have an excellent attitude toward learning continuously, accepting new projects, and ideas from other team members.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and prioritize them while working under tight deadlines.
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes and tools by designing and conducting research programs
  • Handle NCRs and guide the change in products/processes such that errors can be minimized.
  • Learn the relevant codes and standards in boiler industry and provide guidance to other departments by interpreting these codes.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of relevant design experience. Students with previous co-op experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Solid working experience with SolidWorks and know-how of AutoCAD.
  • Experience and working knowledge of metal forming processes through operation of various fabrication equipment including plate rolls, drills, and saws, MIG/TIG welding for thin sheet metal, metal finishing tools and techniques (grinding, deburring, blending, buffing)
  • Exposure to robotic welding processes will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Reliability and excellent time management.

  • Familiar with boiler, pressure vessel, burner operation/design
  • Team player, problem solver, strong communicator, and ability to bring forward new ideas
