Job Purpose

The Senior Financial Accountant will assist with accounting and finance activities for the Corporate Finance group with a focus on monthly and quarterly internal and external financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a driven individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with the quarterly reviews and year-end audit – preparing audit schedules, providing information at auditor’s request, providing explanation in variances, etc.
• Assisting with month-end close activities and monthly consolidation of results including reconciliations, review of the month’s operational results and variances
• Initiating and implementing process improvements
• Provide support and financial assistance in an efficient and timely manner to various stakeholders
• Lead and/or support special projects such as IFRS standards implementation, complex accounting issues analysis and internal control process updates
• Preparation of ad-hoc financial information

Qualifications/Competencies

The individual in this role will have:

• 5+ years’ experience
• A CPA designation is required
• Experience in a public accounting firm is required
• Strong knowledge of IFRS is required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal skills
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.

• Experience in oil and gas industry is an asset
• Knowledge of D365 and Workiva is an asset
• Ability to work in fast paced environment
• Desire to be involved in shorter term treasury and accounting projects

Detailed Task Inventory

The following is a breakdown of the Essential Duties & Responsibilities listed above:

• Review monthly financial information from the divisions
• Prepare notes and disclosures for quarterly and annual financial statements
• Prepare quarterly accounting schedules required by external auditors
• Assist in preparation of the MD&A
• Assist in preparation of quarterly information for the Board of Directors
• Assist in preparation of annual and ad hoc continuous disclosure items
• Assist in completing internal controls testing
