Aston Carter's large public client is looking for a Sr. Financial Analyst to join their team Corporate Reporting team on a permanent basis, in Burnaby. This role has work from home flexibility, competitive salary ranges, and is within a complex, growing company.

As a key member of the corporate reporting team, the Sr Financial Analyst must have the ability to:

• Consolidate quarterly and annual financial information for purposes of external public reporting in compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations.
• Be proficient in Excel and have the ability to perform reconciliations of data between systems
• Perform monthly analysis of financial information and obtain a thorough understanding of variances in account balances to provide meaningful commentary to sr management.
• Liaise with regional controllers and request financial information and explanations over monthly results
• Coordinate with sr management, external auditors, as well as other finance teams to enable timely corporate reporting and review of SEC filings including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and other SEC required reporting documents.
• Project manage the research and analysis of accounting matters, escalating issues when identified and collaborating with sr members of the finance team to resolve issues.
• Provide interpretation of US GAAP on special projects and non-recurring transactions and prepare technical memorandums that document such issues at both the corporate and regional level.
• Act as a support to Regional Controllers from across the globe to ensure proper accounting, risk mitigation and review of submitted variance analyses.
• Provide and implement continuous improvement of processes.
• Ability to identify technical accounting issues and playing a key role ensuring accounting records are in accordance with US GAAP.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks accordingly, and meeting the expectations of multiple stakeholders.

Must Haves:

• 4-5+ years in Big 4 Public Audit specifically focusing on large, complex, public organizations
• CPA Designated
• Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbally
• Working knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP

Duties Breakdown:

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statement and variance analysis, and play a key role in preparing external reporting documents: 30%
• Be a key team member of the corporate reporting team, liaise with other regions and controllers, and Corporate FP&A team in order to delivery high quality financial commentary, understanding and corporate reporting results: 20%
• Assist in review of quarterly balance sheet analysis across all regions: 10%
• Assist in the accounting for short-term and long-term incentive plans, FX analysis, forward contracts: 20%
• Assist with quarter end process and close balance sheet control process, and have the ability to lead quarterly high-risk technical accounting assessments: 20%
