Senior Project Scheduler Job at SYMTECH INNOVATIONS

Reporting to the Manager, Commissioning & Project Analytics, this individual will support the Commission, Scheudling, Analytics and QAQC Department. They will be involved with the majority of Symtechs construction projects. This individual will be in constant communication with all stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Conduct thorough analysis of proposal documents to generate activities, logic, and allocate labor resources at a level of detail adequate for the schedule

Ø Create, update and maintain project schedules and micro schedules as required using Primavera P6 software

Ø Coordinate with Project Manager and/or Estimator to determine the required manpower, hours, and durations necessary to complete activities

Ø Prepare schedules for start-up, shutdown/tie-ins, commissioning and acceleration as required

Ø Review General Contractor’s schedule submissions and verify all scope of work is identified properly and logically sequenced; provide written detailed schedule review comments

Ø Conduct thorough project site inspections with site personnel to determine construction progress

Ø Obtain site data (schedule updates, images of construction progress, site notes from team, etc.)

Ø Carry out comparisons of baseline schedules against latest schedule updates to determine variances of key milestones for reporting purposes

Ø Conduct variance and schedule impact analysis and identify delays, trends and change in logic

Ø Analyze and identify the critical path and near critical path activities, resource loading and tracking of these for reporting purposes to the internal teams and client

Ø Determine reasonable schedule logic and constraints of activities based on discussions with Project Managers and site personnel

Ø Provide input into and update progress and productivity reports for key projects

Ø Review contract requirements to ensure accuracy

Ø Analyze activities and predecessor, successor relationships based on schedule issued by the General Contractor

Ø Establish a baseline schedule and update monthly schedule and compare to baseline schedule

Ø Attend management meetings, project team and client meetings as required and provide necessary project monitoring updates

Ø Manage project schedules and ensure priority is applied as required

Ø Support the Project Manager in scope changes and schedule integration of the impacts associated

Ø Employ recovery plans/schedule acceleration when delays are anticipated or occur

Ø Prepare data for time and cost delay claims as required

Ø The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the positions role within the business unit.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

Ø Bachelor of Engineering, Engineering Degree and/or Masters // Registered with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologist or successfully completed a post graduate construction management program or 5 + years of experience in construction

Ø 3+ years of experience in construction related activities

Ø 3+ years of experience in scheduling relating activities

Ø Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office and web-based applications. This would include but is not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Visio, Adobe, and Bluebeam

Ø Excellent proficiency with project scheduling using Primavera P6

Ø Proven skills in coordinating, decision making and problem solving.

Ø Professional communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills including fluency in English

Ø Strong leadership abilities

Ø Keen sense of attention to detail

Ø Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Ø Proactive nature and ability to work well with project teams and independently with minimal supervision

Ø Willingness and ability to learn/adapt new technology quickly and apply knowledge to support projects with insight to potential risk

Ø Must be able to communicate schedule deviations and schedule logic at the appropriate level to different members of the project team

Ø Excellent understanding of schedule metrics and progress reporting

Ø Strong administration and organizational skills.

Ø Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ø Ability to interface with all levels of staff in a professional manner.

TRAVEL:

Ø 20-80 % travel may be required for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ø In office conditions: Sitting for long periods of time, low levels of noise, regular lighting. Temperature can be adjusted as per employee’s preference with the use of fans or heaters.

Ø On site conditions: Walking or on your feet for long periods of time, high levels of noise, weather and temperature can vary depending on season, mainly outdoors.
