Our growing Application Delivery Team currently has an in-office opportunity for Senior Software Developers within our IT department. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for building high quality software and thrive on owning their ideas from conception to delivery. In this role, you will actively lead and participate in building new software and enhancements to existing applications for internal users across our grain handling, crop inputs, and food processing business divisions. You will also assess existing software applications and make recommendations to update and modernize those systems. We build enterprise grade applications using technologies and frameworks such as Java, Spring, Javascript and SQL. Experience with similar technologies and an eagerness to learn our tech stack will quickly make you a productive, impactful, member of our team.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, results oriented, individual who thrives as a technical lead on a continuously improving agile scrum team. The candidate should be eager to participate in technical initiatives, mentor junior developers, and ultimately looks forward to making a positive impact on our evolving business applications.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate as a technical lead of an agile scrum team to understand and address business needs.
• Design, develop, and test new functionality in our Java-based web applications and web services
• Deliver value to our internal users by owning your work from concept to production.
• Lead story-mapping sessions to break down project objectives into achievable development activities, and create technical documentation as required.
• Provide direction and mentorship to software developers throughout all stages of the development lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews; provide meaningful feedback to others.
• Contribute to technical initiatives and identify opportunities to improve our development practices.
• Provide support to other teams by effectively troubleshooting and resolving issues.

Qualifications:

• A degree or diploma in a computer science or related program.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated technical leadership, teamwork and time management skills.
• Commitment to a continuous improvement mindset.
• Working knowledge of object-oriented design and development, RESTful APIs, and SQL.
• Experience with any of these would be an asset:

Oracle databases, PL/SQL, Spring, jQuery, Vue.js, continuous delivery, Agile, and Scrum practices.
