Position Title: Software Development Lead (Onsite)

Location: Stittsville, ON

Role & Responsibilities:

AutoShack is currently looking for a Lead Software Developer to lead the design and development of our exciting new software solutions. The successful candidate will be able to design and direct the development of high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software systems based the needs of the company. This individual will responsible for overseeing the gathering of business requirements and translating them into the technical requirements for our software development team. There is a specific emphasis on being able to understand the high-priority business needs of the company.

Key responsibilities include:

· Understanding project requirements and ensuring team members perform the correct tasks and have the correct tool to meet them

· Tracking all activities related to the project; each member’s task and role, and timelines

· Gathering requirements, producing specifications, and determining operational feasibility

· Looking ahead to see potential obstacles and issues and resolving issues with a complete end-to-end solution

· Communicating regularly with all necessary parties the progress of each project providing updates, information, and challenges

· Evaluating deliverables and provide suggestions for improvement

· Creating a documentation process, risk log, and reporting as needed

· Analyzing the needs and the environment to ensure the solution considers the current architecture and operating environment, as well as future functionality and enhancements

· Using Agile methodologies, modern languages and frameworks, cloud technologies, and microservice-based approaches, you will work with the team to build innovative, complex systems

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

· More than 8 years’ experience developing and maintaining software written in C#

· Previous experience leading software development teams

· Excellent understanding of web development technologies in general and ASP.NET, React JS, C# (using .NET Core) specifically.

· Ability to learn new technologies and concepts and put them to practical use. This position involves creating brand new systems – using technologies that include:

o .NET Core (including the Entity Framework)

o React JS

o RabbitMQ

o PostgreSQL

o Node.js

o Microsoft SQL Server 2016

· Experience with the Model-View-Controller paradigm and client-server design/implementation strategies

· Strong experience and understanding of Agile methodologies (SCRUM, Sprints, etc.) and Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence

· Experience and/or understanding of distributed source control systems such as Mercurial and/or Git

· Mastery of software development tools – specifically Visual Studio

· Must have good people and communication skills to motivate and support those they lead

· Ability to adapt to the pace and demands of projects as needed

· Ability to mentor team members
