Therapy Assistant Job at Ascend Pediatrics
Families within Ascend Pediatrics are looking for in-home & community Therapy Aides! Ascend Pediatrics specializes in providing clinical, in-home, or community support to families. This unique position will allow you to expand your skills of working as an individual and a part of a multidisciplinary team. Ascend Pediatrics values supporting families where they are at and supporting them in self-care, regulation, iADLS (household chores & activities), gross motor, communication and language development, peer interactions and relationships, community engagement, social thinking and mental health supports. With a flexible schedule and multiple opportunities to grow in your pediatric skills you can expand in so many different ways by working with families who have Ascend Pediatrics support.
We are able to offer support in connecting with families who are looking to add a behavioural support aide to the therapy services team. Flexible scheduling options are available, however seeking more support for after school times. We have clients looking within Airdrie, Cochrane, and multiple locations within Calgary (NW, SW, NE, SE).
Responsibilities:
- Participate in sessions with children, family members and supporting professionals (physiotherapist, occupational therapy, psychology and speech-language pathologist) within sessions.
- Evaluate functional status and environmental factors within the home and community.
- Implement treatment goals and be a strong communicator with the team members about collaborative goals.
- Client documentation and reports will be required within the treatment program.
- Following a play based therapy approach - open to activities and play with the child to work on recommendations and skills
- Social Thinking supports for learning flexibility and social skills in the home and community (We Thinkers, Superflex)
- Supporting regulation based services to engage in sensory and emotional regulation program (Zones of Regulation, Interoception Awareness, 7 sensory systems)
- Be comfortable with behaviours such as negative verbal comments, yelling or screaming, physical aggression, or unexpected events.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Be comfortable working independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
- Show strong time management skills and flexibility within scheduling.
- Experience working with children of different ages and developmental needs.
- Available for after school sessions with families and team members.
- Comfortable with pediatrics and working with different family dynamics.
- Experience and knowledge of the FSCD programming is considered an asset.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 10-30 per week
Salary: $16.00-$21.00 per hour
