IMPORTANT:

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. Crown corporations and separate agencies have been asked to implement vaccine policies mirroring the requirements announced on October 6 for the rest of the public service. Therefore, as of October 29, 2021, the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) requires its employees, including students and casual workers, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Duties

We are looking for someone to embrace a broad range of tasks associated with developing application and systems solutions to address business requirements.

Sitting in this position will help expand your knowledge, strengthen your expertise and introduce you to the inner workings of our business alongside a team of seasoned, diversely skilled technology professionals.

As an FT-03 Developer, you will work to rigorously build and test applications, aiming for defect-free quality coding and providing support during the testing and post-production development.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to project plans, develop custom components with technology partners and participate in the configuration of commercial off the shelf solutions.

EDUCATION:

  • Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology or in a field relevant to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

  • Recent and significant* experience in software development with a solid foundation in JavaScript framework development, VueJS is ideal, AngularJS 2+ or ReactJS are also acceptable:
  • Use of module bundler and optimizer (i.e. Webpack or Vite)
  • Creation of Client-side Single Page Applications (SPA)
  • Creation of reusable standard components and libraries
  • Recent and significant* experience following an established SDLC methodology (preferably agile);
  • Recent and significant* experience in developing applications with a relational or NOSQL databases (e.g. Oracle, Mongo);
  • Recent and significant* experience with automated unit testing, test case design and software debugging (example: using JUnit or other Unit Testing frameworks); and,
  • Recent and significant* experience with Node.js 10.x or higher:
  • Use of the Express application framework
  • Creation and implementation of middleware
  • Implementation of automated testing (i.e. Mocha and Chai) and documentation (i.e. JSDocs)

  • Recent and significant refers to the breadth and depth of experience acquired over 3 consecutive years within the last 5 years. Breadth and depth is defined as a combination of time spent doing the activity, as well as type (range, scope, and complexity) of work performed.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - Secret security clearance - You must be a Canadian Citizen and eligible for a Top Secret security clearance to FINTRAC's standards.

FINTRAC’s process includes a suitability interview, a credit and financial check, fingerprinting, a background investigation covering at least the last 10 years, as well as other assessments necessary to determine a candidate’s suitability for work at FINTRAC.

Candidates may be required to submit security documentation and may be subject to security investigations at any phase of the selection process.

As needed, candidates must be able to produce sufficient records related to any period of time spent outside of Canada and may be subject to further assessment.

Suitability is an on-going condition of employment at FINTRAC and must be maintained.

We understand that FINTRAC’s security clearance process is demanding. Protecting the safety of Canadians and the security of Canada’s economy is what we do; that is why all candidates go through a rigorous screening process before becoming a FINTRAC employee.

Depending on the position to be filled, willingness to relocate to the National Capital Region (NCR) may be required.
