Director of Sales (Hamilton Convention Centre) 1 Year Contract Job at Carmen's Group

We are seeking a passionate, driven, connected business professional to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, you will have the opportunity to meet new people and develop strong relationships as well as showcase the Convention Centre to local, national and international markets, conveying to our clients on how we can deliver an extraordinary experience for their next event.

OPPORTUNITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Manage the sales and event team, ensuring a great customer and employee experience
  • Work with the Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager to establish, communicate, and track sales targets
  • Be continually innovative on attracting and securing new avenues of business for the Convention Centre, selling the City of Hamilton as a destination in addition to our facility
  • Work with the City of Hamilton's Tourism department to submit applications to host a variety of City wide events
  • Source and track new sales leads utilizing effective sales tactics and monitoring the team's success
  • Conduct corporate and social event sales appointments with prospective clients, showcasing the facility and helping them envision the possibilities for their event
  • Work with various internal departments to ensure seamless customer contact and delivery
  • Respond to customer needs and concerns in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
  • Stay current with industry trends, adapt to information regarding product innovations, competitors and market conditions
  • Attend regularly scheduled team meetings prior to all events to guarantee successful execution
  • Travel as required for the purposes of attending large scale conventions, association meetings and to conduct market research

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 -10 years of senior sales experience in hospitality, meetings & conventions and tradeshows is required
  • Post - Secondary education, in Business Administration or Hospitality. A sales or marketing Degree from a recognized University is considered an asset.
  • Canadian Professional Sales Association (CPSA) certification is an asset
  • Experience prospecting events
  • MPS, CSAE, PCMA, CAEM memberships considered an asset
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • A team-oriented approach to work with strong abilities to provide and receive professional feedback for collective growth
  • Customer service mindset as well as a high level of ethics and integrity
  • Flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, and can adapt to high stressful situations
  • Ability to travel outside of Hamilton as required
