Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker

Westhills Care Centre is a BRAND NEW distinctive Long-Term Care Facility providing a variety of clinical and personal programs and services to 160 residents!

The Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker reports to the Nutrition Manager, the Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker will follow the policies and procedures outlined by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other governing bodies.

Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker Responsibilities:

• Serves food to residents according to individual diets and preferences
• Assemble nourishment carts
• Observes time limits for meal serving
• Maintains foods at proper serving temperature
• Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits
• Preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes while following recipes and production
• Clears plates and trays, loads and operates dishwasher
• Cleans pots, pans and cooking utensils as per procedure
• Participates in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers
• Adheres to established policies, procedures regarding quality assurance and infection control
• Stocks unit serveries
• Participates in facility meetings as assigned
• Attends in-service and on-line education programs
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Food handler training certification.
• Current certificate as a Food Service worker. Enrolled in a Food Service Worker/ Dietary aide program or have worked in a LTC home prior to July 1, 2010.
• Comprehensive knowledge of dietary and food service practices, as well as knowledge in Infection Control Practices.
• Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing task to be completed

MUST have a current Police Check (Vulnerable Sector).

Salary: $19.70-$23.57 per hour

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Holidays
• Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

• Overtime pay

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to be vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide proof of at least 2 Covid-19 doses. All staff are required to wear medical masks at all times within the facility.
IPAC policies and protocols are a top priority at Westhills Care Centre.
