Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have four state-of-the-art potato processing plants in PEI, Alberta and in Jamestown, ND, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, ON.



Our Head office is in Dieppe, NB and sales office locations are in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager will be a key member of the site leadership team that is responsible for leading the production team in safely producing quality food that meets our customers’ current and future expectations.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring and training while supervising and indirectly coordinating activities of 100+ employees
  • Involved with setting and executing strategic goals/plans for the Company
  • Manage and oversee the production process and all sanitation activities
  • Participate, update, coordinate, and implement policies and procedures for elements of the Company Health and Safety program.
  • Coordinates plant activities through detailed planning with supervisors and managers to ensure plant objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely and cost effective manner
  • Ensure SOPs and quality control standards are developed, followed and improved upon.
  • Work with QA to continually improve the food safety program and GMP policies
  • Work with support departments to determine materials, equipment, and labour requirements to allow the site to effectively execute the production plan
  • Engage employees to identify and implement process improvements that benefit the overall cost of goods and increase the performance of the production line.
  • Develop, track, communicate and report the operational KPI’s. Prepare and report data analysis to contribute in maintaining and developing cost standards.
  • Participate with engineering and maintenance to develop new capital or special projects which relate to improvement in the production process.
  • Work with QA and R&D groups for new product development and test runs.

Successful candidates must possess the following:

  • 10 years’ experience in the food manufacturing industry, at least 5 years in a people leadership role
  • Education in business, food science, industrial engineering desired – Degree or Diploma desired, but not a requirement
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Statistical Process Control, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent ability to troubleshoot and anticipate problems
  • Sound knowledge of OHSA, GMP, HACCP and food quality systems, such as SQF
  • Willingness to work varied hours if needed
